clay, food, edible landscape
Zuurzout is a ceramic + plant-based culinary studio.
Drawing on the history of eating habits and their cultural impact, Zuurzout creates pop-up events that let us melt into multi-sensory experiences. Their approach to cooking is locally rooted and globally seasoned, with a focus on fermentation and making full use of every part of the produce.
Creating ceramic pieces that go beyond traditional tableware, aiming to enhance the entire eating experience by considering the tactility of clay and its relationship to food. With a focus on objects that feel unique rather than flawless, characterized by a personal touch that invites engagement and transforms everyday dining into something more intimate.
Digging into edible landscape design, blending aesthetics with functionality by integrating edible plants into garden settings. This approach redefines gardens as spaces that are not only visually appealing but also serve as sources of fresh, homegrown ingredients. Their work in edible landscaping is driven by a desire to create environments that triggers the senses and connect people with the origins of their food.
Zuurzout studio, established in The Hague in 2019, is a creative space where these different disciplines merg. They invite people to explore new ways of thinking about food. From the garden it is grown, the ceramics on which it is served to the food itself, making every meal an opportunity to engage more deeply with the elements that shape our daily lives. Their body of work is as much about storytelling and experience as it is about form and function.
